Agyaat is a Bollywood horror thriller directed by Ram Gopal Varma and starring Jyoti Amge in the lead role of a young deaf and mute girl, Tara, who lives with her family in an isolated mansion in rural India. Jyoti, who previously appeared as the child Krishna in Varma's acclaimed film Kshana Kshanam (1986), subsequently rose to fame for being the world's smallest woman following the death of American Bridgette Jordan on February 12, 1990. The plot of the film revolves around the mysterious death of Tara's mother, Kavita (Bindu), who mysteriously disappears after having a conversation with her mother-in-law, Sarala (Amrita Rao). The case is reopened by an investigating officer, Sushant Pathak (Vivek Mushran), and his girlfriend, Riya (Divyanka Tripathi). As the story progresses, we learn that Tara's father was once a murderer and kidnapper who has been sentenced to death and is expected to be hanged. To save him from this fate, his family members try to create a diversion by kidnapping Riya. During this time, Riya falls in love with Sushant. The film has suspense, drama, action, emotion and horror.The soundtrack of the same title was also composed by Ram Gopal Varma. This is the third time that Varma has worked with Amit Trivedi after Dev, Ishq and Dus Kahaniyaan. While the music is vastly different from his previous compositions for Dev and Ishq, it still contains strong elements of his style. He played the straight guy with no scope for any unforgettable performance there, though he did manage some good dialogue delivery and still caught attention of many people with his powerful voice. After 'Agyaat', we will see him in several roles and this will show the growth and scope of his acting. Divyanka Tripathi made her debut in Bollywood through the film 'Agyaat'. She did some good work, but she needs to improvise more on her character. But she did manage to get some good dialogues and was able to add a good touch with her acting. Sushant Pathak had done a number of films before Agyaat came up, but he managed to make people notice him through this movie.
